[sticky entry] Sticky: Kink Meme Guidelines & Links

Guidelines
  1. Post all requests, stories, artworks, and comments anonymously. Use the subject line to summarize your request, and use the word FILL in the subject line for responses to prompts.

  2. Requests should not contain spoilers for episodes that are not out to the public. Remember that sponsors can view episodes a week earlier than the general public.

  3. Do not post any stories or artwork that you have not written or drawn yourself.

  4. For every request you make, please try to post a story or artwork for someone else's prompt. If you feel you cannot contribute fic or art, you should comment on at least three stories or artworks. This helps keep the community active and encourages new prompts and fills.

  5. Racism, homophobia, and hate speech are not allowed. Please use your good judgement.

  6. Do not post anything sexual for characters under age 17.

  7. All material containing material with no consent (noncon) or dubious constent (dubcon) MUST be clearly labelled with NONCON or DUBCON included in the subject line. Again, use good judgement when considering whether to warn for content.

  8. Please post your stories to the kink meme itself, rather than a link to AO3, Tumblr, FF.net or similar.

  9. If you want to contact a mod without the loss of anonymity that comes via PM, post your questions and requests in the Mod Contact Post.

Find a Beta!

You've worked hard on this fic. You've written, you've revised, you've polished. Now it just needs that second set of eyes before you post it.

You need a beta! We're here to help.

(Looking for critique on a fic you've already posted? Go here.)

BETA REQUESTS

Post your beta request in a comment, formatted as follows:

Subject line: BETA REQUEST, Character A/Character B
Word count: X000 words.
Warnings: explicit content, graphic violence, common triggers, etc.
Description: A brief description of your fic in one or two sentences. Think of this as a pitch, rather than a summary.
Areas for Feedback: Any specific kind of feedback you'll be looking for (besides the basics of grammar, spelling, etc).

To reply to a beta request, be sure to reply to the comment itself rather than the main post.

Once somebody has replied to your request, it's up to you to get in touch with each other. We recommend using dreamwidth's private messaging to exchange whatever contact details you need. You can PM somebody by going to their profile and clicking on "Send Message." (Make sure you have messages enabled for registered accounts! You can check this by going to your account settings and looking under the Privacy tab.)

BETA OFFERS

Want to offer your services as a beta? Post a general offer in a comment below formatted as follows:

Subject line: BETA AVAILABLE
Preferences: Favorite characters or pairings, subject matter, etc.
Restrictions: Anything you will not read goes here. Squicks, noTPs, any subject matter you aren't comfortable with, length restrictions, etc.

If an available beta sounds like a good match for you, leave a reply to their comment.

As above, once somebody has replied to your offer, it's up to you to get in touch with each other.

Critique Requests

This is a space for RvB fic writers to request critique on their posted work. (If you're looking for a beta for work you haven't yet posted, check out the Find a Beta post.)

To request critique, leave a comment on this post in the following format:

Fic title: Your Title Here!
Fic url: site.org/you/yourfic
Characters/Pairings: Character A/Character B + Character C
Word count: X000 word
Warnings: explicit content, graphic violence, common triggers, etc.
Level of critique: Soft, Moderate, or Hard
Subject of critique: Where you would like help the most. This could be grammar and sentence structure, plot, action, dialogue, character development, voice, pacing, themes, etc! Please be as specific as possible so critics know what to focus on.

To give critique on a request, be sure you are replying to the comment where it was requested, not to the main post.

GROUND RULES FOR CRITIQUE REQUESTS
  • YOU MAY ONLY SUBMIT YOUR OWN FIC FOR CRITIQUE.
  • Don't ask for crit you can't handle. There's nothing wrong with asking for a soft critique! It's good to know your own limits.
  • Realize that you might not like or agree with everything you hear. Don't take the critique personally--it's about your work, not you. Feel free to ask questions of the critic to better understand their feedback or clarify their points, but don't attack them for their opinions or start an argument with them. Remember, you still have the final say on your own work.
  • If at any time the feedback becomes too much or you just decide you've had enough, it's okay to say thanks, that's enough for now. Critics, please respect an author's wishes and don't be offended if they say they've had enough. It doesn't necessarily mean you did anything wrong.
  • Offer feedback for somebody else. If you receive critique here, try to give critique to someone else as well. Give-and-take makes for a thriving community.
GROUND RULES FOR CRITIQUING
  • Respect what the author has requested. Stay within the level of critique they asked for, and stay focused on the areas where they asked for help.
  • All feedback should be constructive, even the hardest criticism. The purpose of critique is to help the author improve their writing. Focus on helping the author achieve their goals. "I don't like it" is not a critique. Use examples from the work. Suggest changes. Be specific. Choose your words carefully, and if you're not sure whether you're overstepping the level of critique requested, always err on the side of caution.
  • Do not bash characters or pairings. This is not the place for telling somebody why their fave sucks. You can make characterization suggestions, but recognize that there are usually multiple valid interpretations of a character.
  • Do not make it personal. Focus on the writing, not the author. Anything that smells like flaming or a personal attack will be terminated with extreme prejudice.
  • ONLY POST CRITIQUE HERE FOR FIC SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED BY THE AUTHOR.

Any interest in a concrit meme?

Since we've got our lovely kink/gen memes going on here, I'm wondering if anybody has interest in a space on this comm where people can request critique on their writing--meme fills or otherwise. Strictly voluntary, moderated, you'd get to specify what level of crit you wanted and in what areas as applicable, all that good stuff.

Tumblr's a great place for getting supportive feedback and recs and all that really nice stuff, but I know that I personally would love to be able to solicit more critical feedback to help improve my writing, and maybe there are others who feel the same.

This is a pretty good model of the sort of thing I'm envisioning, but not limited to kinkmeme fills and tailored to whatever the needs of our community may be.

Thoughts?

☆ Red vs Blue Gen Prompt Meme: Requests

 How it works:

- Anonymously comment with a Gen or Fluff prompt for others to fill with a fic. Browse other prompts and see if something strikes your muse.

- Share NSFW prompts at the Kink Meme here.

Some simple guidelines:

- Be sure to put your scene and characters in the topic line to make the meme easier to browse.

- Putting 'FILL' in the topic line of your fics will make it easier for readers to find them.

- Please read the general guidelines for more guidance.
