Find a Beta!
You've worked hard on this fic. You've written, you've revised, you've polished. Now it just needs that second set of eyes before you post it.
You need a beta! We're here to help.
(Looking for critique on a fic you've already posted? Go here.)
BETA REQUESTS
Post your beta request in a comment, formatted as follows:
Subject line: BETA REQUEST, Character A/Character B
Word count: X000 words.
Warnings: explicit content, graphic violence, common triggers, etc.
Description: A brief description of your fic in one or two sentences. Think of this as a pitch, rather than a summary.
Areas for Feedback: Any specific kind of feedback you'll be looking for (besides the basics of grammar, spelling, etc).
To reply to a beta request, be sure to reply to the comment itself rather than the main post.
Once somebody has replied to your request, it's up to you to get in touch with each other. We recommend using dreamwidth's private messaging to exchange whatever contact details you need. You can PM somebody by going to their profile and clicking on "Send Message." (Make sure you have messages enabled for registered accounts! You can check this by going to your account settings and looking under the Privacy tab.)
BETA OFFERS
Want to offer your services as a beta? Post a general offer in a comment below formatted as follows:
Subject line: BETA AVAILABLE
Preferences: Favorite characters or pairings, subject matter, etc.
Restrictions: Anything you will not read goes here. Squicks, noTPs, any subject matter you aren't comfortable with, length restrictions, etc.
If an available beta sounds like a good match for you, leave a reply to their comment.
As above, once somebody has replied to your offer, it's up to you to get in touch with each other.

BETA AVAILABLE
Restrictions: I'm not good with porn, and my structural critiques are probably lacking, but I can do SPAG/punctuation, fact-checking, and general characterization. It may take me a few days to get back to you due to grad school life, particularly if your fic is more than a few thousand words.
BETA REQUEST, Carolina/Maine
Warnings: explicit content, canon-typical violence, bdsm (specifically: D/s, rope bondage, sensation play, light impact play), some references to childhood bullying, attempted suicide
Description: Before he was the Meta, he was Maine, and he was hers. What happened was not her fault... but it was her AI.
Areas for Feedback: plot plot plot, combat/mission writing needs help especially, the usual characterization and voice stuff
This is very long-shot request by nature of both the length and the warnings, and I won't be offended if I don't find any takers, but hey, no harm in putting it out there. I would really prefer somebody who actively likes the pairing and won't put off by some highly-specific Maine headcanons. I'm posting this one a chapter a week starting next week, and am going to try hard to keep a regular schedule. Some chapters I'm more confident on and may not need more than a once-over; others still need a lot of work. Like I said, long shot! But if by some chance this all sounds like your cup of tea, hit me up.
